Greater Charleston Squirrel Removal You Can Count On

Gray squirrels don't leave once they've moved in. They're persistent, fast-breeding, and capable of serious structural damage, especially to electrical wiring. Monster Wildlife gets them out with one-way exclusion doors and seals every gap they used, all backed by a 3-year warranty.

Signs you have squirrels
Scurrying sounds during daytime hours, especially early morning and late afternoon
Chewed eaves, soffit corners, or gaps in the fascia near the roofline
Insulation clumped into round nests visible from the attic hatch
Chewed wiring, sometimes discovered when a circuit breaker trips unexpectedly
Acorns or other food caches stored in the attic insulation
Staining or debris around exterior openings at the roofline
The biology that makes them dangerous

Squirrels have to chew. Your wiring pays the price.

A squirrel's incisors grow continuously throughout its life, roughly 6 inches per year. To keep them from growing too long, squirrels must chew constantly. When they take up residence in your attic, they chew whatever is available: wooden beams, insulation, and most dangerously, electrical wiring.

Squirrel-chewed wiring is a leading cause of attic fires. Exposed copper conductors can arc against each other or ignite adjacent insulation. Because the damage is hidden inside the attic, it often goes undetected until something short-circuits or a breaker trips. If you have squirrels in your attic, have an electrician inspect the wiring after removal.

Gray squirrels breed twice a year, peaking in January through February and again in July through August. A single female can raise two litters of three to four pups per year. Ignore the problem and you may have twice as many animals by the following season.

Our approach

Exclusion first. Every time.

The most effective way to remove squirrels from an attic is one-way exclusion. We install a one-way door over the primary entry point and seal all secondary entries. Squirrels exit to forage during the day and can't get back in. Within a few days, the attic is empty.

When pups are present and not yet mobile, we use live-capture trapping alongside exclusion so no animals get left behind. Every job is assessed individually.

The one thing DIY always misses

Squirrel-proofing only works if every entry point is sealed at the same time. Block the main hole and squirrels will find the secondary gap within 24 hours. Our inspections cover every inch of the roofline, and our warranty covers the result.

Squirrel removal in four steps.

01
Inspect
Full roofline and attic inspection. We find every entry point and assess the scale of the infestation.
02
Install Exclusion Doors
One-way doors go over the primary entry. All secondary entries sealed simultaneously.
03
Confirm & Seal
After all squirrels have exited (monitored over several days), we remove doors and permanently seal all openings.
04
Clean Up
Nest material, droppings, and contaminated insulation removed. Space fogged with enzyme disinfectant. Entry points repaired to match your exterior.
Common questions

Squirrel questions, straight answers.

Squirrels are active during the day. You'll hear light, fast scurrying in the morning and early evening, higher-pitched and quicker than raccoons. Raccoons are heavier, slower-sounding, and mostly active at night. If you hear scratching at 7 a.m., squirrels are the likely culprit.
Squirrels have to chew. Their incisors never stop growing, so they gnaw on whatever's in reach. In attics, that means electrical wiring (a leading cause of house fires), wooden beams, and insulation. They also create entry points that let in moisture and other animals. The longer they're in, the more it costs to repair.
With the right exclusion technique, squirrel jobs can be resolved in just a few days. One-way exclusion doors are highly effective because squirrels are active and exit reliably. The critical step is sealing every entry point at the same time. Leave one open and they'll find it within 24 hours.
Charleston's gray squirrels breed twice a year, late January through February and again July through August. Females look for safe enclosed spaces to raise young, making attic infestations most common in those periods. You may also notice increased entry attempts after heavy storms that knock down large tree limbs near your roofline.
Yes. Every squirrel exclusion we perform is backed by our 3-year extendable warranty. If a squirrel returns through a seal we installed during the warranty period, we redo the work at no charge. We also trim back or recommend trimming any tree branches within six feet of the roofline, since overhanging limbs are the #1 recurring access point.
