Daniel Island is a planned community developed since the late 1990s within the city of Charleston. It is bordered by the Cooper and Wando Rivers, with extensive tidal marshland throughout. Its 23 miles of shoreline make it one of the most water-adjacent communities in the Charleston metro area, and the proximity to tidal wetlands means water-loving wildlife species are consistently present near residential areas.

Daniel Island's 23 miles of shoreline and extensive wetland and marsh areas mean water-adjacent wildlife species are especially common. Opossums denning under decks and in crawlspaces, raccoons near the waterfront, and snakes (particularly cottonmouths near the tidal areas) are our most common calls. We also see significant bird activity with starlings and sparrows nesting in homes, and occasional otter and alligator calls near the retention ponds.
Nuisance alligators on private property are handled through the SC Department of Natural Resources' Nuisance Alligator Program. We can help you file the appropriate complaint and connect you with licensed alligator trappers. For all other wildlife (raccoons, snakes, opossums, birds, and others) we handle removal directly.
Daniel Island has an HOA with specific guidelines for exterior modifications. We are experienced working within HOA requirements and use materials and methods that are compatible with the community's architectural standards. We communicate with homeowners about any required HOA notifications before work begins.
