Wildlife Removal on Folly Beach, SC

Folly Beach sits between the Atlantic and tidal marsh, and the wildlife reflects both. Raccoons run the beach neighborhoods at night. Rats get into older homes through roofline gaps and foundation cracks. Cottonmouths come out of the marsh edges in warm weather. Monster Wildlife handles it all for residents who live here all year, seasonal homeowners, and vacation rental properties.

About Folly Beach

Folly Beach is a six-mile barrier island just 12 miles from downtown Charleston. Known as "the Edge of America," it has a mix of permanent residents and vacation properties, with a strong vacation rental market.

The island's older housing stock and coastal location create consistent wildlife pressure. The marsh system along Folly Creek and the Intracoastal Waterway on the back side of the island supports an active snake and water bird population, while the residential neighborhoods deal regularly with raccoons and rats.

Common wildlife calls on Folly Beach

Raccoons are our most frequent call from Folly Beach. The island's raccoon population is well fed, bold, and active every night. Many Folly homes have accessible decks, screened porches, and crawlspaces that can easily become denning sites if not properly secured.

Rat calls are the second most common. Folly's older homes have plenty of gaps at the roofline, around utility penetrations, and at the foundation. Roof rats in particular are persistent and breed fast. We find active infestations in vacation properties that have gone undetected through multiple guest cycles.

Common questions

Folly Beach wildlife removal: questions answered.

Raccoons and rats top the list. Folly's older housing stock, many homes built in the 1960s through 1980s, has had decades to develop gaps that wildlife exploit. The proximity to tidal creeks and marsh along the back side of the island brings in cottonmouths and other snakes regularly, especially during warmer months. Opossums are frequent callers under decks and in crawlspaces.
Yes. Vacation rentals and seasonal homes are particularly vulnerable because the occupancy pattern means food is sometimes left, entry points aren't noticed quickly, and minor structural issues don't get fixed between visits. Roof rats enter through roofline gaps and gaps around utility lines; Norway rats come in at the foundation. A proper exclusion job that seals every entry point is the only thing that solves it for the long term.
Yes. We handle rental property accounts regularly in coastal Charleston communities. We can inspect between guest stays, identify what's getting in and where, and give you a clear exclusion plan. One thorough job is much less disruptive and less expensive than handling repeated calls from guests.
The marsh and tidal creek edges on the north side of Folly are active habitat for cottonmouth water moccasins. They have heavy bodies, are dark, and are often found near water or drainage features. If you're seeing snakes in your yard, near your foundation, or in garage or storage areas, call us. We identify the species on sight and remove nonnative or venomous snakes promptly.
