Raccoon in the Gable
Raccoons are intelligent, dexterous pests that exploit weak spots in your home’s exterior. Gable vents—designed to ventilate attics—are prime targets. These vents often have lightweight covers or gaps that raccoons can tear open with their claws. Once inside, they nest, damage insulation, and pose health risks with their droppings. Sealing your gable vent is critical to avoid costly repairs and health hazards.
This customer located in Goose Creek had a raccoon take shelter in their attic during a winter freeze. They had damage to their dry wall from droppings and urine, along with sounds coming from the noisy tenant. We trapped outside for the invader and set out a camera to make sure the raccoon wasn’t entering the gable vent any longer. Once we were sure the raccoon was done using that entry point, we sealed their gable vents and returns to ensure they didn’t have unwanted visitors.
